R.E.A.C.H. Now 2008 – Youth Conference on HIV and AIDS

‘R.E.A.C.H. Now 2008’ is a three day conference on HIV and AIDS for youth. The theme of this conference is to Rise for Equality and Act for Change and Hope. This conference will enable them to join hands in one forum to network with each other, discuss pressing issues, fill in gaps and formulate a feasible youth response regarding this epidemic.

Venue: Waters Edge, Colombo, Sri Lanka
Dates: 19-21 October 2008

“Our Non governmental Organization, Save Lanka Kids (SLK) is a project under Community Concern Society, a charity based organization approved under the department of social services. We strive to educate, empower and train students, youth & community leaders to be efficient peer educators for HIV and AIDS in order to stop the spread of the virus and the stigma that surrounds our society. We partner with other organizations to advocate on HIV and AIDS to prevent this epidemic from spreading in our country.

There are a number of programs under SLK, such as the Morning Star School, The Preschool, After-School Tuition, Youth Empowerment, Heavana and a HIV and AIDS awareness program targeting schools and networking. The HIV outreach project under SLK is a youth based project run by youth and our main goal is to give Sri Lankan youth a clear understanding on how HIV an AIDS, how its contracted, how to keep safe, and how to respond to people living with HIV and AIDS. Save Lanka Kids strives to advocate on behalf of people living with HIV, promote awareness on HIV and AIDS.”
