Deep Griha’s Integrated Service for HIV & AIDS (DISHA) is a programme that works for HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, working within target communities and the wider public in Pune. DISHA works in Tadiwala Road and Ramtekdi, and also performs outreach activities to deliver education and raise awareness on HIV/AIDS issues. Among the services DISHA provides to HIV positive clients and their families, are nutrition programmes, drop-in centres, counselling and support services.

Sahara

Sahara provides residential care and rehabilitation programmes for people facing difficult situations due to substance use and HIV/AIDS. Based in Wagholi and Pimpri, Sahara has 36 projects and is run almost entirely by former substance users and PLHA. Sahara runs services for men, women, children and the transgender community, with the aim of empowering people, strengthening communities, encouraging safer behaviours and aiding the reintegration of people into society.

Saheli is a Community Based Organisation working to bring women in sex work together to solve their problems, and to change the attitude of society towards women in sex work. Based in the red light area of Budhwar Peth, Saheli is the only sex workers collective in Pune. The organisation empowers sex workers through collectivization, provides them with health care and social services, and educates sex workers to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Muktangan is a rehabilitation centre for drug and alcohol addicts. Based in Yerawada, Muktangan runs a residential treatment centre providing all aspects of medical care, support and counselling for recovering addicts. Muktangan’s programmes are designed to help addicts and their family members to live a happy, healthy and productive life.

NMP Plus

NMP+ works in the areas of network building, service delivery and advocacy to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV and their families, and to reduce further HIV transmission. Their projects include providing treatment, counselling and support to HIV positive people, and campaigning for changes in the law. The organisation was formed by people with HIV and membership is open to all people living with HIV in the state of Maharashtra.

PSI uses social marketing to address the health problems of low-income and vulnerable populations across India, with programs in safe water, nutrition, family planning and HIV/AIDS. Among their target populations in Maharashtra are high-risk HIV/AIDS groups such as truckers, commercial sex workers and their clients.

Muktaa Helpline

MUKTAA Helpline is an anonymous, one-to-one, telephone service for all questions and queries relating to HIV and AIDS. Callers do not have to reveal their name, address or phone number. MUKTAA is a voluntary initiative from Maitri, a civil service action group based in Pune.
