UPCOMING SESSIONS

Become a HIV BOOTCAMPER and WAKE UP PUNE!
What do you know about HIV?
Our HIV BOOTCAMP gives you the knowledge and skills to set up your own awareness projects with friends or colleagues and become part of the Wake Up Pune movement. From learning about HIV transmission and prevention to putting your awareness ideas into action, HIV BOOTCAMP will give you the practical skills to become an active campaigner.
Why ME?
We want YOU! – the young people of Pune – to join us and start setting up your own HIV/AIDS awareness projects with friends or colleagues. Use your existing skills and gain new ones at HIV BOOTCAMP and fight against stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV/AIDS. It is a myth that HIV is limited to ‘high risk’ groups such as injecting drug users, sex workers and truckers. HIV does not discriminate - but we do. Help break this cycle of stigma and discrimination. Let’s WAKE UP PUNE!
The 1 day HIV BOOTCAMP includes:
• HIV/AIDS awareness about transmission and prevention
• Interactive activities
• Discussions of stigma and how it affects those living with HIV
• Ideas for how you can spread awareness
• Advocacy – what is it and how you can become a campaigner
As a HIV BOOTCAMPER you will become part of the 'HIV Positive' movement in Pune; positive about education, positive about awareness and positive about support. You'll also become the proud owner of a cool 'HIV Positive' T-shirt.
You will be supported in your projects through the Wake Up Pune team, by fellow volunteers (who you can communicate with on the Wake Up Pune facebook group) and by the resource pack given to you by the Wake Up Pune coordinators (including a CD, flyers, and pamphlets).
To book your place on HIV BOOTCAMP or find out more information please contact the team at info@wakeuppune.org, or call the Wake Up Pune coordinator on 9881488631.
______________
HIV Bootcamps are workshops for Pune youth. The primary objective is to sensitise and improve participant understanding of HIV/AIDS, and related issues such as sexuality and drug use. Other sessions develop skills in activism, such as the creation of awareness media (e.g. street theatre, films) and grassroots level advocacy. Bootcampers are recruited from colleges and companies as well through public awareness events.
