HIV Bootcamps

UPCOMING SESSIONS
English: please contact us for details
Marathi: please contact us for details

HIV Bootcamp flyerHIV Bootcamps are workshops for Pune youth. The primary objective is to sensitise and improve participant understanding of HIV/AIDS, and related issues such as sexuality and drug use. Other sessions develop skills in activism, such as the creation of awareness media (e.g. street theatre, films) and grassroots level advocacy. Bootcampers are recruited from colleges and companies as well through public awareness events. Participants must be aged 18–30.

3 Projects - 1 Goal - Make a difference! Choose 1 of the following projects...

Project 1: Hand Me that Handicam!
Lights, Camera, ACTION! That’s right guys! We’ll give you the handicam, you film! Its easy! We’ll train you on what to film, and how to film at the HIV Bootcamp. You can do anything from street interviews, to documentaries, to making a mini movie! Have other ideas? You can do those too!

Project 2: Disruptive Theatre
Always dreamed to be that amazing Aamir Khan? Kajol? Here’s your chance to SHINE! At the HIV Bootcamp we’ll help you make a short performance to be seen in our very own Pune streets! It can be about almost anything surrounding HIV – stigma and discrimination, getting tested, HIV is a chronic condition, etc. You will be part of the crowd, and begin the performance from there. Make others look, inform them about HIV. Get a response. Disrupt that Crowd!

Project 3: Spoken Words and Creative Spirit
Are you more of a behind-the-scenes person? We want YOU to write a poem, play, story or creative piece about HIV. Want to use those arty skills? Make a flipbook, painting, or interactive trivia game! We’ll help you come up with ideas, and let those creative juices flow. We’ll use your work in various events! Want to learn how to run a booth? Come to HIV Bootcamp and we’ll teach you!

Meet new people. Work on projects together. Get practical experience. Help destroy stigma and discrimination. Make a difference. That’s what Bootcamp is all about!
