Hi Ravi,

Thanks for contacting me and trusting me with your question.

Your fear of contracting HIV from having unprotected sex is grounded. Even though the change of getting HIV from a single unprotected encounter with a HIV+ person is quite small, the great majority of the HIV infections are obtained by unprotected sex.

So yes, you should get tested. Under this link you find some places where you can get yourself tested, www.wakeuppune.org/site/index.php/where-to-get-tested-in-pune . Technically and officially all the test results are anonymous and your results are only for you to see. However, I can't give a 100% guarantee of the discretion of testing centres. The Nari clinic might not even need your personal details, as for the other centres I'm not aware if they do test without requiring personal details.

Remember, next time you can save yourself this stress and more importantly protect you and your sexual partnet from contracting any STI incl HIV by using a condom when you have sex, whether this is with a prostitute or not!

Good luck with the testing and the stress.

If you have other questions, please feel free to contact me.
