Multiplex Campaigns

Wake Up Pune partnered with Pune’s premier multiplex cinemas to display HIV awareness posters and slides during the campaign. Adlabs, City Pride Satara, City Pride Kothrud, E-Square, INOX and Mangala all took part. Special thanks go to Adlabs, who are still running the slides.On World AIDS Day, INOX hosted a specially commissioned HIV awareness play and dedicated Wake Up Pune campaign stall.

Public Information Campaign
Posters, hoardings and banners have been displayed in public spaces throughout the city, including the bus stands at Shivaji Nagar, Swargate, Katraj & Hadapsar, Pune Station, Market Yard, coffee shops, college campuses, restaurants and shops.

Wake Up Pune Sunday’
A number of churches participated in ‘Wake Up Pune Sunday’, a day where messages about HIV were given to congregations during services. Participating churches included the Church of North India Diocese of Pune, Roman Catholic Diocese of Pune and other independent churches across the city.

Indian Red Cross Society – Poster Exhibtion
The Indian Red Cross Society hosted an event on 2 December 2006, with street plays from college youths and an exhibition of Wake Up Pune posters.

Nightclub campaign
Many city nightclubs joined Wake Up Pune on World AIDS Day to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. Posters and banners were displayed at all venues and leaflets, ribbons and condoms distributed. Participating clubs included Fire N Ice, High Spirits, Lush, Nirvana, Soho, 1000 Oaks and Zync.

Rally along route of Race Against AIDS
In a tie-up with the Pune International Marathon Trust, members of the Wake Up Pune coalition came together for a rally along the route of the Race Against AIDS (Deccan Gymkhana – Nehru Stadium). Representatives from many different NGOs took part, including Saheli, PCI, Deep Griha Society and NMP+.

22, 23, 25 November 2006
Rock Shows by Sahara
Sahara (rock 'n' roll band from Delhi) played an exclusive run of shows in Pune to launch the Wake Up Pune campaign. Venues included Toons, Not Just Jazz By The Bay and Soul Avenue.

Awareness stall at Magnum Mall, Moledina Road
Magnum Mall hosted an awareness stall on 25 November. A quiz was was organised and prizes and leaflets distributed.
