Sex and Sexuality Myths
You can't get pregnant if you have sex during your period: FALSE.
Even though the chances are pretty low if your periods are regular (once a month.), the chances are NOT zero
You can't get pregnant if your partner pulls his penis out before ejaculation: FALSE.
Before a male actually comes to a climax (ejaculates), drops of semen are present at the tip of his penis. One drop contains hundreds of sperm. These sperm can travel up your reproductive tract and get you pregnant, even if he tries to pull out in time. If your partner has sperm on his fingers and touches the inside of the vagina you could also get pregnant.
You can't get pregnant the first time you have sex: FALSE.
No, this is absolutely not true. Many young women can tell you that they got pregnant the first and only time they ever had sex.
If a man masturbates too much he will become infertile or unable to have erections: FALSE.
Masturbation does not reduce the sperm count in any way or reduce sexual ability.
If a girl does not bleed or feel pain the first time it means she is not a virgin: FALSE.
Every girl is different. Some have smaller vaginal passages than others and might be more prone to pain and bleeding. A girl who does sports or has an active lifestyle might also not bleed or feel any pain.
You can get HIV from kissing or sharing a drink with someone: FALSE.
HIV does not spread with saliva. The only way you could get HIV from kissing would be if you and your partner both had bleeding cuts in your mouths.
It takes more than one time of unprotected sex to get infected with HIV: FALSE.
It does not necessarily take more than one time. A single exposure to the HIV virus may result in infection, as many infected people can testify. If you are exposed to body fluids containing the HIV virus, and the virus finds a way to enter your bloodstream (such as through a tiny abrasion or tear in your mucous membranes), then you can become infected.
You can't get infections from oral sex or touching: FALSE.
Some Sexually Transmitted Diseases can spread from skin to skin contact such as herpes.
