2) Can HIV is transmitted through BLOOD DRAW FROM SYRINGE?

3) How much are SERUM CMIA COMBO TEST ARE ACCURATE?

4) Can one swallon lymph node only ONE is related to HIV.. Or do swallon lymph nodes comes in pair in HIV infection?

Thank you so much for Reading and Answering my queries … Thank you once again..

Dear Sir,

Thank you for trusting me with your questions.

1) The┬áSERUM CMIA COMBO AG/AB test is a fourth generation HIV test. This means it combines P24 antigen tests with the standard antibody tests and enables earlier accurate detection of HIV. The advantage of this particular test is that individuals can obtain a positive result very quickly after exposure and can therefore take necessary steps to manage their condition and prevent transmission. This is important because the majority of HIV transmission occurs within a few weeks of initial infection when the individuals viral load is very high, but they are unaware that have contracted HIV. By week 8 – 9 most individuals will have developed HIV antibodies which can be accurately detected by the ELISA test, which is freely and widely available. In India this is the standard recommended test for HIV.

2) HIV can be transmitted through sharing needles with an HIV positive person, whether this is injecting or drawing blood.

3) HIV tests are generally very accurate, however it is possible to get a false positive or false negative result. The standard advice is to take an initial test as early as possible within the recommended window period (for ELISA this is 22 days after exposure). If the result is negative, it’s recommended to take another test at 3 months to confirm this, as some people react differently to HIV infection and take longer to develop antibodies. A negative test at 3 months, almost certainly means the individual is not HIV positive, provided they haven’t engaged in further risky behaviour since the initial exposure.

4) Regarding the lymph nodes, one swollen node could be an early sign of HIV infection. However, many people do not experience any symptoms at all. There is no clear way to tell if you have contracted HIV other than to get tested.

Kind Regards

Dr. Punewali
