“Masturbation with sexual fluids on hand?”

Hi,

5 days back I went to a massage parlour. I didn’t have proper sex but I inserted my finger inside her Vagina and then wiped that finger with a cloth and used the same hand to masturbate…. But later i realized that it was a big mistake that i did and now i am really scared. I am in mental trauma and too scared. Please advice me if I am at the Risk of HIV… Please reply ASAP.. I am too scared.

Hello,

Thank you for trusting me with your question.

The situation as you describe it is relatively low risk for HIV. The HIV virus cannot live for long outside the human body, and contact with the live virus is needed to become HIV positive. Masturbation, either by yourself or by someone else, is very low risk for HIV, and it is unlikely that the incident you describe resulted in HIV transmission. In the time it took for you to wipe your hand off and later masturbate, it is unlikely that the virus survived. However, if you regularly visit massage parlors for sex work, I strongly advise you to be tested for HIV, as sex work is a high-risk context for transmission of the virus, as well as other sex-related health concerns such as sexually transmitted infections (STI). Of course, if you’re worried you might have come into contact with HIV, the only way to know for sure is to have an HIV test.

There are a number of testing facilities in Pune, and many HIV tests are free of charge. You can find a list here: http://www.wakeuppune.org/getting-tested

Any government hospital such as Sassoon hospital can help you have an STI test, which is highly recommended if you engage in unprotected sex acts.

All the best,

Dr. Punewali
