Peter Mugyenyi runs the Joint Clinical Research Center (JCRC), one of the most successful AIDS-treatment providers in Uganda. Back in 2003, he went to Washington on a day's notice to help the Bush administration draft its plan for what would become PEPFAR (the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), the most ambitious public-health initiative ever to tackle the AIDS crisis, then sat beside Laura Bush at the State of the Union address when the program was announced. In the years since, he has been applauded when he exceeded his enrollment targets.
China has lifted a law which banned foreigners who have HIV and Aids ffrom entering the country.

Mumbai: "A true AIDS epidemic is not a future possibility for Maharashtra; it is a present reality", warns a pamphlet brought out by an NGO fighting against the spread of HIV. And this is not an alarmist tirade. In the last three years, Maharashtra has registered the largest number of new AIDS cases in India. The 98,578 fresh cases registered in the state since 2007 make up 23%-almost a quarter-of the 4,19,982 AIDS patients registered across the country.

Our next HIV Bootcamp will be on Sunday 13th of June 2010 at 2:00 pm until 4-5 pm. It will be held at Deep Griha Society (2nd floor) at 13 Tadiwala Road (turn right at the end of Dhole Patil Road).
This event is free and is open to anyone interested in learning more about HIV. It will be in English with Marathi/Hindi translation.
From March 12 to March 21 was Pune's Fireball Tournament. This yearly event is Maharashtra's biggest inter-collegiate and inter-corporate basket tournaments organized by the Leo Club of Pune Bharati Vidyapeeth, a non-profit social organization in Pune.
